history of oil painting

oil painting has been around for centuries, so therefore there have been many different types of people to use this method of painting. it all began in 1410 with Huybrecht and Jan eyck, they made oil paints it was made of pigment and linseed oil along with other kinds of oils . the secret of oil paint didn't get out until 1440. but it is said that many civilization used oils before oil paints were made to paint. there were places such as Greece, Rome and Egypt that use these oil paints to create their own paintings. the civilizations that used theses paints benefited form it. there art collection has expanded and a lot of their art is widely known from some of the most famous artists. over time what these artist painted changed. centuries ago it was people and nature now a days it can be anything. it can be abstract or a still life. still life's are the ones that are mainly used now a days. a still life is the one that i personally see more often, and so i think they are the ones to be used more often.
